Union College

Union College in the heart of Schenectady, NY has been a mainstay on the ZG Capital District circuit through the years. Schenectady serves as a convenient centrally located hub in the capital district. To its north you’ll find Saratoga, Clifton Park and Troy just minutes East, with Albany just a short ride down I-90. The colleges favorable location paired with their top of the line facilities, make it a site certain of providing an elite tournament atmosphere.

The facilities at Union College often give us the ability to run an entire tournament at a single location. They offer a multi-purpose Memorial Field House with 2 basketball courts side by side. This fieldhouse is often used by their outdoor sports teams in times of bad weather as well as by their winter sports teams for practice. It is the perfect site for a Zero Gravity event as it is a large open space and its many courts allow parents to stay in the same plays for numerous games without the hassle of moving gym to gym across town.

Along with the fieldhouse facility, Union College is also home to the Vinar Athletic Center where their men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball teams compete. This facility was opened in 2004 and maintains a very modern look, the main court is overlooked by conference rooms with sleek glass windows. The Vinar Athletic Center Gymnasium can hold up to 1000 fans and its petite build often provides for a packed venue with amplified crowd volume.

Both the Vinar Athletic Center and the Memorial Field House serve as prime locations for our Zero Gravity Capital District Tournament circuit. Anytime you see Union College listed as a tournament site, it’s something to get excited about. Whether it be the convenient location, multicourt facility, or the quality courts of the Vinar Athletic Center, Union College has shown to be a beloved site of parents, coaches and players alike.
