New Haven Heat

New Haven Heat are becoming a top program out of Connecticut area in recent years. We had the opportunity to have their Director, Rick Kennedy, answer some questions about the program!

When did the program start?

The program was founded in 2002 by Frankie Redente Jr. In 2014 we took over the program with 1 team which was a 7th grade team

What is your favorite memory with your program?

This past summer (2019) we were able to beat several sponsored teams on all grade levels. Also, our first original players graduating and playing collegiately or in prep school and several of our players getting D1 offers. Finally, what a season with our 7th grade winning the Bigfoot Hoops National Championship in FL and our 17u-North team winning the AAU D1 National Championship in FL and runner up in the AAU Super Showcase

What is the hardest part about having your own program?

The hardest part about running your own program is recruiting qualified coaches

What do you think your program excels in?

Our program excels in promoting a family atmosphere and supporting our players 24/7 365 we always are there for them

How can you elevate your program in 2 years?

We can elevate our program to that next level by continuing to develop our players and give them a platform to showcase their talents in front of those persons that can help them play at the collegiate level

Best ZG Tournament?

The best ZG tournament is always ZG Finals in Massachusetts!

What’s your mission?

Our mission is to provide programming and partnership between academics and athletics building leadership skills and responsibility through a disciplined basketball program

What are you looking forward to the most about the 2020 ZG Spring Circuit?

Biggest thing we are looking forward to this 2020 ZG season is hopefully having multiple teams winning ZG Nationals in Massachusetts
